Position Papers

All delegates attending the General Assembly, ECOSOC, or a Specialized Agency at DCMUN 2025 must submit a position paper before the conference begins. For Crisis Committees, position papers are optional and will not affect eligibility for awards. Position papers allow delegates to summarize their understanding of the issue, articulate their nation’s stance, and propose potential solutions. Delegates are encouraged to structure their position papers into three concise paragraphs:

  1. The first paragraph should provide a clear summary of the issue and highlight the most critical aspects of your committee’s topic. Additional research and relevant supporting facts are encouraged to strengthen your arguments.

  2. Nation’s Position: Outline your nation’s stance on the topic, focusing on specific aspects of the issue that are particularly significant to your country.

  3. Proposed Solutions: Present possible solutions and actions you believe should be included in a resolution.

Citations must follow the Chicago Style format (footnotes and bibliography). When writing, use the third person if representing a nation, or the first person from the character’s perspective if representing an individual. Position papers should adhere to the following format: Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced, and a maximum length of one page (including all subtopics).

Delegates are required to send their position papers to dawsoncollegemun.official@gmail.com before 12AM January 17th.
