Conditions like endometriosis, autoimmune disorders, and chronic fatigue syndrome are often underdiagnosed because women’s reports of pain and fatigue are frequently dismissed. This gender bias in healthcare is a nearly universal issue, one that transcends borders and demands international attention.

Different regions define womanhood and care through varying lenses of tradition, patriarchy, religion, and culture, making this a powerful entry point for global dialogue. SOCHUM, the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee, provides an ideal platform to address this injustice through a human rights lens.

Delegates are invited to consider: Should countries prioritize efforts to combat the medical dismissal of women’s symptoms, or focus on breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation, menopause, and mental health? Both approaches challenge deeply rooted silence and demand long-overdue recognition.
