DCMUN 2027

A senescent Hayao Miyazaki has one last dream: to create a final movie before he leaves this world behind once and for all. However, he wishes for his last film to transcend a simple story and convey a lesson on the importance of imagination and creativity in storytelling. Delegates, representing different characters from his past films, come together in his dream world made of bits from all his past creations, tasked with building the final movie themselves.  

 

The “death plague”, the embodiment of Miyazaki’s deteriorating health in his imagination, represented in his dream world by a collapsing environment and ideas, must be mitigated by delegate cooperation in preserving creativity and artistry. Each character will have to learn to balance the group’s struggle as well as their own concerns in preserving their respective movies’ settings, values, and identities. 

 

It must be noted that this task will be far from simple: between weighing the validity and implications of competing ideologies and collectively combating the plague of death slowly nibbling away at Miyazaki, delegates must learn to compromise and collaborate in a high stakes environment. Ultimately, the fate of this story rests in their hands, as every decision they make will determine what survives, and what is forgotten, when the story finally comes to an end.
