
Awards Policy
*Note that all delegates found guilty of cheating and usage of AI will not be able to win any award at DCMUN 2026 regardless of performance.
DCMUN 2026 prides itself on being a healthy, respectful learning environment that fosters innovative and diplomatic debate. Awards are distributed to multiple delegates in each committee who demonstrate excellent diplomacy skills, creativity, and equitable conduct/inclusivity.
Awards offered at DCMUN 2026:
Verbal Commendation:
This award is given to one delegate that has shown the most progress and willingness to try, learn and improve over the course of the conference. This delegate has embodied the chosen DCMUN value of innovation and diplomacy in all their motions, papers and speeches throughout the weekend.
Honourable Mention:
This award is given to the delegate that displays the qualities of a rising diplomat in their positive leadership, speeches and writing. Throughout the course of the conference this delegate showed signs of willingness to improve and contributed innovative and timely ideas during the course of their committees.
Outstanding Delegate:
This award is awarded to the delegate in each committee who in all aspects embodies the values of DCMUN 2026. This includes sustained leadership, a meaningful impact on debate, nuanced contributions to formal documents and committee initiatives, and consistently high-quality speeches. The recipient embodies the core values of DCMUN 2026 through active, thoughtful, and constructive participation in both moderated and unmoderated caucuses.

The Nancy Rebelo Award for Intellectual Resourcefulness
This award recognizes a delegate who combines thorough knowledge of committee topics with a thoughtful and supportive approach to leadership. The recipient demonstrates exceptional research skills, contributes insightful and deeply grounded ideas, and guides debate while fostering a respectful and collaborative environment. Through both their written work and diplomatic engagement, this delegate shows how expertise paired with attentiveness to peers can enrich the committee’s discussions and outcomes.

For SAs & Crisis:
The Julian Nemeth Award for Innovative Leadership
This award is presented to the delegate whose bold and creative ideas have had a decisive impact on committee proceedings. The recipient demonstrates intellectual courage in proposing original approaches, a deep understanding of complex issues, and a remarkable ability to shape debate through innovative solutions. Through their visionary thinking and insightful contributions, this delegate leaves a lasting mark on the committee’s work and outcomes.​

Delegation Awards:

Best Small Delegation Award: Must be a delegation of 4 minimum to 15 delegates maximum to qualify

Best Large Delegation Award: Must be a delegation of 16 delegates minimum to qualify
*The following awards will be calculated using a proportion of awards per delegation. More substantial awards will carry a higher weight in this calculation.
